Rome Rescue Mission Giving Away Thanksgiving Meals – Donations Needed for the Holiday

ROME, NY – The Rome Rescue Mission is asking the community for help with providing Holiday meals to those in need. The Mission needs food and monetary donations to help serve over 3,000 meals this Thanksgiving.

Donations are accepted Monday – Friday at 413 East Dominick Street 9AM – 6PM & Saturday and Sunday 9AM-2PM.

The Rome Rescue Mission needs 1,000 Turkeys plus all the sides for Thanksgiving. Food items needed include Turkeys, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, white potatoes, sweet potatoes, dinner rolls, vegetables, coffee, hot cocoa, creamer, milk, fruit, salad, mayonnaise, pies/desserts, gallon size zip lock bags.

“Our services are critical to the struggling families we serve. We provide a warm, traditional meal to our neighbors in need every year.” Matt Miller, Executive Director of the Rome Rescue Mission said. “Our goal is for no one to go hungry on Thanksgiving.”

Monetary donations are also accepted, and checks can be mailed to PO box 337, Rome NY 13440 or online donations can be made at www.RomeMission.org.

A Thanksgiving turkey will be provided to those in need on Monday, November 20th beginning 11:00 AM until gone at 280 East Dominick Street side yard.

Thanksgiving Meal delivery will be on Wednesday November 22nd at the following locations and times. Any person in need can receive a meal at a convenient location.

  • Colonial I from 11am to 11:20
  • Colonial II from 11:30 to 1145
  • Madison Plaza 11:50 to 12:10
  • Georgian Arms from 12: 15 to 12:30
  • Valentine from 12:40 to 12:55
  • Rome Mall Apartments 1:15 to 1:30

Thanksgiving Dinner will be served November 23rd at 12:00pm. Take-outs will be available on Thanksgiving Day as well.

The Rome Rescue Mission is closed the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, November 24th.

The Rome Rescue Mission serves 200 meals per day and has an 18-bed shelter for women and children. They provide a means of hope by giving shelter to the homeless, feeding the poor, inspiring lifelong learning, and encouraging a personal relationship with God to everyone.
