WHAT WE DO

Rome Rescue Mission is committed to providing services for individuals and families, creating a foundation providing assistance, and ensuring safety and well-being. Our “A hand up, not a hand out” mantra creates an environment that alleviates physical and emotional suffering by offering shelter, comfort, and support. Our fundamental beliefs are illuminated in our CORE values.

Food and necessities are available, as well as services for help dealing with addiction, domestic violence, and mental health challenges.

Representative Payee

Benefit payment management

This Program provides benefit payment management and will assist you in paying your bills with your Social Security, Veterans benefits, or wages. The Representative Payee program office hours are:

Monday –  Friday
9 AM to 3 PM.

Mobile Mission

Food and Clothing Delivery

Mobile Mission program is a way of extending services beyond its four walls. Our vehicle delivers hot meals, clothing, and canned foods directly to neighborhoods while offering chapel services and outreach for homeless, veteran, and senior populations.

In the wake of COVID-19, what was envisioned as an innovative extension of services soon became a lifeline for many residents. When the pandemic’s impact forced the Mission to close, the Mobile Mission became its primary means of providing food to those in need.

In its first week, the mobile unit provided 3,100 meals throughout the city. After six months, the community reach had risen to more than 600 meals delivered daily to a dozen locations, five days a week.

STEAM

hands-on and interactive STEAM activities

The Rome Rescue Mission is excited to announce the partnership program with Mohawk Valley Community College called STEAM. This program is available to 11th and 12th graders.

The program runs for eight weeks after school in the evening for 2-3 hours.

Narcotics Anonymous

Meetings

Narcotics Anonymous is the oldest and most highly regarded addiction treatment method. Both are considered the most effective way to overcome a substance abuse disorder. We provide NA meetings at the Mission.

Bible Study

The Rome Rescue Mission hosts a weekly Bible Study that is open to all. Our resources begin with the assumption that Bible study participants know little or nothing about God, the Bible, or Jesus Christ. They then unfold God’s Big story, helping those who may be living in adverse conditions find life-giving hope and meaning.
